Setup guide

Framekit for developers and agents.

Framekit is a remote MCP server. Point any MCP app at one URL, sign in, and it gets the same website tools as Framekit's own AI.

Who can use it. Any app that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP with OAuth sign-in.

Step by step

Set it up

  1. Use the server URL

    Streamable HTTP. Sign-in is OAuth 2.1 with automatic discovery and dynamic client registration, so there are no keys to create.

    https://framekit.ai/mcp
  2. Sign in

    Your app opens Framekit in the browser. Sign in and press Allow. Every connection can read and edit (scopes sites:read and sites:write), whatever the app asks for.

  3. Read the rules first

    The server's instructions tell the model to call listSites, getSiteOverview and getFramekitGuide before it writes. Most apps follow them on their own.

Your app

Add it to your tools

Claude Code

Add the server, then run /mcp in a session and choose Authenticate.

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http framekit https://framekit.ai/mcp

Cursor

One click opens Cursor's own confirmation. Or add it by hand:

.cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "framekit": {
      "url": "https://framekit.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}

VS Code

One click opens VS Code, which asks before adding it. Or add it by hand:

.vscode/mcp.json
{
  "servers": {
    "framekit": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://framekit.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Codex

Add the server, then sign in with codex mcp login framekit.

Terminal
codex mcp add framekit --url https://framekit.ai/mcp

Reference

Tools

The same tools Framekit's own AI uses in the editor, under the same names, plus a few to find, start, publish and tune a site for search. Site tools take a siteId from listSites, createSite or duplicateSite. Edits save as a draft that previewSite shows as a private link; the live site changes only on publishSite or the editor's Publish button.

Tips

Get the most out of it

  • Every tool is marked read-only, editing or destructive, so apps that ask before risky actions do.
  • Writes from one app to one site share an undo step until ten quiet minutes pass. undoAIChanges takes back the whole step.
  • Warnings that start with [MUST FIX] mean the block needs another pass.

Good to know

Questions

Is there an API key option?

Not yet. Sign-in is OAuth only, which every current MCP app supports.

Which permissions does it ask for?

sites:read to see your sites and sites:write to change them. Every connection gets both, whatever the app asks for.

Do I need a Framekit site first?

No. Ask your assistant to start a new site and it makes one for you. If you already have sites, tell it which one to work on, or ask it to copy one as the start of a new site.

Can it make decks too?

Yes. Ask for a deck and it builds one slide by slide, from scratch or from one of Framekit's templates, and can work on the decks you already have. When it's ready, ask it to share the deck and it sends you the link.

Does it cost anything?

Connecting is free. Your assistant does the thinking on your own Claude or ChatGPT plan, and your site and publishing work the same as they always do on your Framekit plan.

Can I undo a change?

Yes. Ask your assistant to undo and the last round of changes it made comes back out.

What can my assistant see?

Only the sites on the Framekit account you sign in with, and only after you press Allow. To stop, remove Framekit from your assistant's connector settings.

Can it help with Google and my contact form?

Yes. Ask it to improve your SEO and it writes the titles and descriptions Google shows for your site and each page, plus the image people see when they share a link. It can also read what visitors sent through your forms.

How do I publish?

Tell your assistant to publish when you're happy with the preview, or open the site in Framekit and press Publish. Either way, your plan covers the same things it always does.

Can I see the changes before they go live?

Yes. Ask your assistant for a preview and it sends a private link showing your site exactly as visitors will see it. Only people you share the link with can open it, and your live site stays as it is until you publish.

Something look different in your app? Menus change from time to time, and The Model Context Protocol always has the latest. Still stuck? The Help Center can help.
