Gumroad advertises 10%. Lemon Squeezy advertises 5%. Most sellers stop reading there and conclude that one costs twice the other, and they are wrong in a direction that flatters Gumroad.
Gumroad's 10% plus 50 cents does not include card processing; its own fee article lists 2.9% plus 30 cents as a separate charge. Lemon Squeezy's 5% plus 50 cents already includes processing, currency conversion and tax handling.
On a $29 template pack sold to a US card buyer, Gumroad keeps $4.54 and Lemon Squeezy keeps $1.95.
At $2,000 a month in sales, that is $3,758 a year on Gumroad against $1,614 on Lemon Squeezy. The fee is not the whole story, though.
Gumroad pays out sooner, has a marketplace that can find you buyers, and is not in the middle of a migration.
Lemon Squeezy's own January 2026 update says its team now spends its time building Stripe Managed Payments and that the goal is an easy way for Lemon Squeezy users to move there.
Every fee, payout term and refund rule on this page was re-verified against Gumroad's and Lemon Squeezy's own documentation on 12 October 2026, and the refund section now reflects that Lemon Squeezy absorbs its own fee on a refund, which the August version missed.
A merchant of record is the company that legally sells your product to the buyer, so it collects and remits the sales tax and VAT and handles disputes, and both Gumroad and Lemon Squeezy act as one, which is why comparing them is mostly a question of price, payout speed and reach.
Lemon Squeezy keeps more of your money than Gumroad at every volume we priced, at $403 a year against $940 for $500 a month in sales of a $29 product and $1,614 against $3,758 at $2,000 a month, because its 5% plus 50 cents includes card processing and Gumroad's 10% plus 50 cents does not.
Both are merchants of record that file your sales tax and VAT. Gumroad wins on payout speed, on its Discover marketplace and on stability, since Lemon Squeezy's team has said its future is Stripe Managed Payments.
Framekit is a separate third option for creators who want the store on their own portfolio site and are willing to handle tax themselves.
Full disclosure: Framekit is our product and appears below only as a labelled third option for one specific seller, not as the winner of Gumroad vs Lemon Squeezy. No test purchases were made on either platform for this page; every Gumroad and Lemon Squeezy figure comes from their own help centres and documentation, read on 12 October 2026 and linked where it carries weight.
How We Compared Gumroad and Lemon Squeezy
This comparison applies each platform's published fees, payout rules and refund terms to one carried product at three monthly volumes, and it says plainly which numbers were read at the source, which were calculated and which were not tested at all.
Read at the source on 12 October 2026. Gumroad's fees article and getting-paid article, its help on chargebacks and file limits, and its pricing page.
Lemon Squeezy's fees documentation, its getting-paid, refunds, chargebacks and payment-method docs, its pricing page and its January 2026 update post.
Calculated. A $29 digital template pack sold at $500, $2,000 and $5,000 a month, which is about 17, 69 and 172 sales.
The main table assumes US card buyers; a second version assumes half the buyers are outside the US, because Lemon Squeezy adds 1.5% on international transactions. Gumroad's card processing is the 2.9% plus 30 cents its fee article names.
Not tested. No live purchases, no timed setups. The August version of this page described "measured" flows; nothing here depends on them now. Where a workflow matters, such as a refund or a dispute, it is described from the vendor's own documentation.
Gumroad vs Lemon Squeezy at a Glance

Why 10 Percent Is Really 15.7 Percent
On a $29 product sold to a US card buyer, Gumroad's advertised 10% becomes 15.7% once the separately charged card processing is added, while Lemon Squeezy's advertised 5% becomes 6.7% once its 50-cent fixed fee is counted, so the real gap is nine points, not five.
Work it through. Gumroad's platform fee is 10% of $29 plus 50 cents, $3.40. Processing is 2.9% of $29 plus 30 cents, $1.14. Total $4.54, and the seller keeps $24.46.
Gumroad's fee article states the 10% "does not include" credit card processing or PayPal fees, and that sales through its marketplace pay a flat 30% instead, with processing included.
Lemon Squeezy's fee documentation describes its 5% plus 50 cents as a fee that covers credit card transaction fees, currency conversion and tax handling. On the same sale that is $1.45 plus 50 cents, $1.95, and the seller keeps $27.05.
| Scenario, $29 product | Platform fee | Card processing | Total taken | Seller keeps | Effective rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gumroad, direct link, US card | $3.40 | $1.14 | $4.54 | $24.46 | 15.7% |
| Gumroad, sale credited to Discover | $8.70 | Included | $8.70 | $20.30 | 30.0% |
| Lemon Squeezy, US card | $1.95 | Included | $1.95 | $27.05 | 6.7% |
| Lemon Squeezy, non-US card | $2.39 | Included | $2.39 | $26.61 | 8.2% |
| Lemon Squeezy, French buyer, 20% VAT | $2.76 | Included | $2.76 | $26.24 | 9.5% of list price |
The tax-inclusive base. Lemon Squeezy calculates its fee on the total order value, VAT included.
Its own fees page prices a $20 product to a French buyer: $4 of VAT takes the total to $24, and the fee is 50 cents plus 5% of $24 plus 1.5% for an international payment, $2.06.
Run the $29 pack the same way and the fee is $2.76, about 9.5% of your list price. That is fair for a company doing the VAT filing, but it means the real rate on European sales is well above 5%.
The fixed fee on cheap products. Both platforms charge 50 cents a sale, so both punish low prices. On a $5 product Gumroad takes $1.45 all in, about 29%, and Lemon Squeezy takes 75 cents, 15%.
Lemon Squeezy's documentation invites sellers of products under $10 to ask for custom pricing.
What Gumroad and Lemon Squeezy Cost Over a Year
At $2,000 a month in sales of a $29 product, Gumroad costs $3,758 a year including card processing and Lemon Squeezy costs $1,614, so Lemon Squeezy leaves about $2,140 more of the same revenue with the seller, and the gap grows in step with sales.
Every figure is the seller's full annual cost: platform fee plus processing. Neither platform has a monthly plan. The Framekit columns are included for orientation and assume its paid plans are billed yearly ($372 a year for Business).
| Monthly sales (sales a month) | Gumroad direct | Gumroad, 20% of sales via Discover | Lemon Squeezy, US cards | Lemon Squeezy, half international | Framekit Free | Framekit Business |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $500 (about 17) | $940 | $1,112 | $403 | $448 | $536 | $608 |
| $2,000 (about 69) | $3,758 | $4,446 | $1,614 | $1,794 | $2,144 | $1,316 |
| $5,000 (about 172) | $9,395 | $11,116 | $4,034 | $4,484 | $5,361 | $2,733 |
Discover changes the Gumroad column more than volume does. If one sale in five is credited to Gumroad's marketplace, the annual bill at $2,000 a month rises from $3,758 to $4,446.
Whether that is a cost or an investment depends on whether those buyers would have found you anyway.
International buyers narrow Lemon Squeezy's lead only slightly. With half the buyers outside the US, Lemon Squeezy's 1.5% surcharge adds $180 a year at $2,000 a month. It is still less than half of Gumroad's cost.
Gumroad's volume discount does not reach these sellers. New direct sales drop to 5% plus 50 cents only once paid sales pass $20,000 in a single calendar month, and the discount resets on the 1st.
Per sale, at six price points
| Price | Gumroad direct keeps | Lemon Squeezy keeps (US card) | Lemon Squeezy keeps (non-US card) |
|---|---|---|---|
| $5 | $3.55 | $4.25 | $4.17 |
| $9 | $7.04 | $8.05 | $7.91 |
| $19 | $15.75 | $17.55 | $17.26 |
| $29 | $24.46 | $27.05 | $26.61 |
| $49 | $41.88 | $46.05 | $45.31 |
| $99 | $85.43 | $93.55 | $92.06 |
Run it yourselfexport last month's Gumroad sales as a CSV and add up every fee, processing included. Then multiply the same gross sales by 5%, add 50 cents for each order, and add 1.5% of whatever share came from outside the US.
Multiply both totals by twelve. The difference is what Gumroad costs you over Lemon Squeezy a year, and the only argument left for staying is payout speed, Discover or stability.
Payouts: Gumroad Is Faster, Lemon Squeezy Has the Lower Floor
Gumroad pays out weekly once a sale has cleared a seven-day hold and your balance has reached $100, while Lemon Squeezy pays twice a month after a 13-day hold with a $50 minimum, so Gumroad's money usually arrives sooner and Lemon Squeezy's arrives on a fixed calendar.
Gumroad. Its getting-paid article says weekly, monthly and quarterly payouts include sales made through the previous Friday in UTC, that each sale has a minimum 7-day holding period, and that a $100 balance is needed before a payout goes out.
The payout day depends on the bank: Thursday for US accounts, Wednesday for euro, UK, Canadian and Australian accounts, Tuesday for most other countries, Friday for PayPal.
Daily payouts exist for US creators with eligible bank accounts, four prior payouts and a 60-day-old account; instant payouts up to $10,000 cost 3%. Payouts to PayPal cost 2%.
A new account goes through a review of one to three weeks before its first payout.
Lemon Squeezy. Payouts are created on the 1st and 15th and paid on the 14th and 28th once net sales have cleared a 13-day hold; Lemon Squeezy's own example has a sale on the 4th paid out on the 28th.
The minimum is $50, rolled over until reached. Payouts to US banks are free; to banks outside the US they cost 1%, and PayPal payouts cost 50 cents in the US or 3% capped at $30 elsewhere.
Balances are paid in USD and converted at the mid-market rate for non-USD banks.
What that means in a real month. A US seller on Gumroad's weekly schedule is typically paid within about two weeks of a sale, on a Thursday.
The same sale on Lemon Squeezy can wait more than three weeks, depending on where it falls in the month.
A seller outside the US also pays Lemon Squeezy 1% on each bank payout, which on a $2,000 month is $20, a cost the fee table above does not include.
The floor works the other way. Gumroad's $100 minimum means a $75 month pays nothing until the next one lifts the balance. Lemon Squeezy's $50 minimum is gentler for very small sellers.

Refunds, Chargebacks, Tax and Delivery: The Mechanics
Lemon Squeezy is the kinder of the two when a sale goes wrong, because it absorbs its own fee on a refund and builds the dispute case for you, while Gumroad returns its platform fee on a refund but keeps the processing portion, and both handle tax as the legal seller.
| What happens | Gumroad | Lemon Squeezy |
|---|---|---|
| You refund a $29 sale | Gumroad returns its $3.40 fee; you lose about $1.14 of processing | You give back only what you received; Lemon Squeezy absorbs its $1.95 fee |
| Who can refund | You; Gumroad may also refund within 90 days to prevent a chargeback | You; Lemon Squeezy may also refund within 60 days to prevent a chargeback |
| A buyer files a chargeback | Treated as a full refund: you cover the amount and processing, Gumroad returns its fee | You pay the refunded amount minus the platform fee, plus a $15 dispute fee |
| Who fights it | Gumroad contests it; you have 72 hours to add evidence | Lemon Squeezy builds the case |
| Dispute-rate rule | Over 1% of customers disputing triggers an enforced refund policy | Lemon Squeezy's own risk rules |
| Merchant of record | Gumroad | Lemon Squeezy |
| Sales tax and VAT | Collected and remitted worldwide | Calculated, collected and remitted on every sale |
| Fee charged on tax | Not spelled out in its fee article | Yes, the fee base is the tax-inclusive total |
| Delivery after payment | Receipt email with a View content button | Signed, throttled download links |
| Coming back later | Receipt link, or the Gumroad Library account and app | A My Orders account with a magic-link login |
| Updated files | Resend receipts or post to past buyers | New files appear in existing customers' My Orders |
| Free products | Yes, up to 250 MB in total | Lead magnets, and pay what you want from $0 |
The refund rows decide less than they seem. On a $29 refund, a Gumroad seller is out about $1.14 and a Lemon Squeezy seller is out nothing. Refund one sale in fifty at $2,000 a month and Gumroad's policy costs you about $19 a year more.
The dispute rows matter more to nervous sellers. Both companies fight chargebacks as the merchant, which is a genuine service compared with any store where you answer your own bank.
Lemon Squeezy adds a $15 dispute fee; Gumroad's help centre describes no separate dispute fee.
Our guide to refunds and chargebacks on digital products covers the evidence that wins a download dispute either way.
The delivery rows favour Lemon Squeezy for anything you update. A template pack you revise every quarter reaches past Lemon Squeezy buyers in their My Orders page automatically.
On Gumroad you resend or post the update yourself. Gumroad's Library and app are the better place for a buyer to keep a large collection.
Where Gumroad Wins
Gumroad is the better choice for sellers who need money sooner, who want a marketplace to find buyers for them, or who would rather not build on a product whose own team has said its future is somewhere else, and none of those advantages shows up in a fee table.
Faster, steadier payouts. Weekly payouts with a seven-day hold usually beat a twice-monthly cycle with a 13-day hold, and US creators can pay 3% for instant payouts when cash is tight.
Discover. Gumroad's marketplace is the only mechanism on this page that brings you a buyer you did not already have. A sale credited to Discover costs a flat 30%, $8.70 on a $29 pack.
That is expensive as a fee and reasonable as the cost of a customer who joins your list and buys again from your own link.
Because attribution follows how the buyer arrived, export your sales CSV, as Gumroad's fee article suggests, to see how many orders were charged at 30%.
No migration question. Gumroad has been its own merchant of record since 2025 and has not told users to plan a move. Lemon Squeezy has.
Bigger files and a buyer library. Gumroad allows 20 GB per file on paid products, against Lemon Squeezy's 5GB in total per product, which matters for LUT libraries, sample packs and course video. Buyers keep their purchases in a Library account and app.
Courses and memberships in one place. Gumroad's pricing FAQ lists courses, tutorials and memberships alongside downloads, and its help centre covers license keys, pay what you want and affiliates whose share of fees follows their commission.

Verdict: pick Gumroad if payout speed, marketplace reach or platform stability outweighs roughly $2,100 a year at $2,000 a month in sales. If the 10% is already pinching, Gumroad's fees explained walks through the per-order maths, and the best Gumroad alternatives covers where sellers usually go next.
Where Lemon Squeezy Wins
Lemon Squeezy is the better choice on price at every volume and on the after-sale experience for software and updated files, provided you are comfortable building on a product whose team has said it is preparing users to migrate to Stripe Managed Payments.
Half the cost. $403 against $940 a year at $500 a month, $1,614 against $3,758 at $2,000 and $4,034 against $9,395 at $5,000, on a $29 product with processing counted.
A fuller billing toolkit. Subscriptions with free trials, usage-based billing, license key generation, a customer portal, bundles, upsells and abandoned-cart emails (5% on recovered sales), plus email marketing free up to 500 subscribers.
For software and SaaS sellers this is the deciding row.
More ways to pay. Up to 21 payment methods, including Apple Pay in Safari, Google Pay in Chrome, Alipay, WeChat Pay and bank debits.
Kinder refunds and updates. Lemon Squeezy absorbs its fee on a refund, and new files reach past buyers automatically.
The caveat that belongs in every Lemon Squeezy recommendation. The January 2026 update owns that support had slowed and product updates had thinned, calls Stripe Managed Payments the future of the merchant-of-record idea, and says the aim is an easy migration path.
It is not a shutdown notice and gives no date.
Stripe describes Managed Payments as a merchant-of-record service for software and digital products, priced at 3.5% on top of Stripe's standard processing; on a $29 US card sale that is about $2.16, leaving $26.84, slightly less than Lemon Squeezy's $27.05.

Verdict: pick Lemon Squeezy for margin, subscriptions and license keys, and keep your customer export and product files current so a future move to Stripe is an afternoon rather than a crisis. Anyone already on it and watching the migration news will find the best Lemon Squeezy alternatives and Lemon Squeezy vs Stripe useful.
Framekit: The Third Option for a Store on Your Own Site
Framekit does not answer the Gumroad vs Lemon Squeezy question, because it is not a merchant of record, but it is the better fit for one seller both of them serve poorly: the photographer, filmmaker or designer who wants the store to sit on the portfolio site that already brings them clients.
Framekit is an AI website builder whose store sells digital downloads from the same site as your portfolio, and the account behind it also delivers client galleries, runs Frame.io-style video review and builds Slides decks, all drawing on one storage pool (10GB free, 2TB on Business).

What it does that neither does. Gumroad and Lemon Squeezy give you product pages and a storefront.
Framekit gives you a multi-page site with a Store page in the navigation, product sections you can drop under a case study or a reel, and a direct framekit.ai/buy link for each product that works on its own, with no website, in a YouTube description or a link-in-bio.
The money, honestly. Framekit charges 5% on Free and Starter, 3% on Pro and 0% on Business at $39 a month ($31 yearly), with Stripe's processing on top and the fee taken on the price after any discount code.
On a $29 product, Framekit Free is never cheaper than Lemon Squeezy, because 5% plus Stripe's processing is more than 5% plus 50 cents.
Framekit Business overtakes Lemon Squeezy at about $1,111 a month in sales on yearly billing, or about $1,398 on monthly billing.
Against Gumroad, even Framekit's free plan is cheaper from the first sale: $536 against $940 a year at $500 a month.
What you give up. On Framekit you are the merchant.
Payments land in your own Stripe account through Stripe Connect, and Framekit does not calculate, collect or remit VAT or sales tax, does not fight disputes for you and keeps its fee when you refund.
The checkout always opens at framekit.ai/buy with your name, logo and a "Powered by Framekit" line, even when the store pages sit on your own domain.
Download links in order emails last 7 days and can be resent, and updated files are not pushed to past buyers. There are no subscriptions, license keys, affiliates, pay what you want, upsells or abandoned-cart emails, and no marketplace.

Who should skip itsoftware sellers, anyone selling subscriptions or license keys, and anyone with a large share of EU buyers who wants VAT handled. Lemon Squeezy or Gumroad is the right tool for all three.
Verdict: for a creative professional selling presets, LUTs or templates to followers, above about $1,100 a month in sales, with a site to put the store on, Framekit Business is the cheapest of the three and the only one that also runs the portfolio and client deliveries. The pairings are priced in detail in Gumroad vs Framekit and Lemon Squeezy vs Framekit.
Moving Between Gumroad and Lemon Squeezy: A Checklist
Moving from Gumroad to Lemon Squeezy is a re-upload and a link swap with no tax decision to make, since both are merchants of record, so the steps that need care are your customer list, your past buyers' access and the payout gap while the new account warms up.
| Step | What to do | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Export your Gumroad customers and sales as CSV | Neither platform imports from the other |
| 2 | Download every product file, cover and description | Lemon Squeezy has no Gumroad importer |
| 3 | Check file sizes against Lemon Squeezy's 5GB per product | Gumroad allowed 20 GB per file |
| 4 | Recreate products, variants and prices in Lemon Squeezy | Subscriptions and license keys need rebuilding too |
| 5 | Rebuild discount codes and affiliate links | Affiliates need new links |
| 6 | Set your payout account and note the 1st and 15th cycle | Budget for a longer first wait than Gumroad's weekly rhythm |
| 7 | Swap links in bios, video descriptions and newsletters | Old links keep selling through Gumroad until changed |
| 8 | Leave Gumroad products live for past buyers | Their receipts and Library still deliver from Gumroad |
| 9 | Keep a fresh export of customers and files outside Lemon Squeezy | The January 2026 update signals a future move to Stripe |
| 10 | Review after 60 days, including any Discover sales you lost | Discover buyers do not follow you to Lemon Squeezy |
Going the other way, from Lemon Squeezy to Gumroad, is the same list in reverse with two additions: Gumroad reviews new accounts for one to three weeks before the first payout, and Gumroad's 10% plus processing will roughly double your fee line, so price the move before you make it.
How to Choose Between Gumroad and Lemon Squeezy
Take these questions in order and stop at the first clear answer, because the first two are about what you sell and how fast you need cash, which settle Gumroad vs Lemon Squeezy for many sellers before the fee gap even comes up.
1. Do you sell software, subscriptions or anything needing license keys and usage billing? If yes, Lemon Squeezy, whose billing toolkit is built for it. If not, go to question 2.
2. Do you need sales money in your bank within about two weeks, every week? If yes, Gumroad's weekly payouts, or its instant payouts for US creators, fit better than a twice-monthly cycle. If not, go to question 3.
3. Does Gumroad's Discover marketplace bring you real sales today, or do you have no audience yet? If yes, Gumroad, at least for an entry product. If not, go to question 4.
4. Would Lemon Squeezy's move toward Stripe Managed Payments worry you? If yes, Gumroad, or plan your exit path from day one. If not, go to question 5.
5. Are your files larger than 5GB per product? If yes, Gumroad. If not, Lemon Squeezy is cheaper at every volume and is the default answer.
6. Do you run a portfolio site and also deliver client work? If yes, and you are willing to handle tax yourself, compare Framekit, which costs less than either above about $1,100 a month.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Lemon Squeezy cheaper than Gumroad?
Yes, Lemon Squeezy is cheaper than Gumroad at every volume we priced.
On a $29 product sold to US card buyers, Gumroad costs $940 a year at $500 a month in sales, $3,758 at $2,000 and $9,395 at $5,000, including card processing; Lemon Squeezy costs $403, $1,614 and $4,034, with processing already inside its 5% plus 50 cents.
Does Gumroad's 10 percent include card processing?
No. Gumroad's fee article says its 10% plus $0.50 per direct sale does not include credit card processing of 2.9% plus $0.30 or PayPal fees, so a $29 sale costs $4.54 in total.
The only Gumroad rate that includes processing is the flat 30% charged on sales credited to its Discover marketplace.
Why is Lemon Squeezy's fee higher than 5 percent on my sales?
Lemon Squeezy's fee is higher than 5 percent because it adds 50 cents per order, charges its percentage on the total including VAT, and adds 1.5% for international transactions, 1.5% for PayPal and 0.5% for subscriptions.
A $29 sale to a French buyer paying 20% VAT carries a $2.76 fee, about 9.5% of the list price.
Are both Gumroad and Lemon Squeezy merchants of record?
Yes. Gumroad has been the merchant of record for its creators since 1 January 2025 and collects and remits sales tax and VAT worldwide. Lemon Squeezy is a merchant of record that calculates, collects and remits tax on every sale.
With either one, you do not register for EU VAT or file sales tax returns for the sales they process.
How fast do Gumroad and Lemon Squeezy pay out?
Gumroad pays weekly by default, covering sales through the previous Friday once each has cleared a 7-day hold, with a $100 minimum; US bank accounts are paid on Thursdays.
Lemon Squeezy creates payouts on the 1st and 15th and pays on the 14th and 28th after a 13-day hold, with a $50 minimum, so a sale on the 4th is paid on the 28th.
Does Gumroad or Lemon Squeezy keep its fee when I refund?
Neither keeps its own fee. Gumroad returns its platform fee on a refunded sale but keeps the card-processing portion, about $1.14 on $29. Lemon Squeezy deducts only the refunded amount minus its platform fee from your next payout, so the refund leaves you even.
Who pays for a chargeback on each platform?
On Gumroad a chargeback is treated as a full refund: you cover the amount and the processing, Gumroad returns its fee and contests the dispute with evidence you add within 72 hours.
On Lemon Squeezy you pay the refunded amount minus the platform fee plus a $15 dispute fee, and Lemon Squeezy builds the case.
Is Lemon Squeezy shutting down in 2026?
Lemon Squeezy has not announced a shutdown. Its January 2026 update says the team has been building Stripe Managed Payments, admits support and product updates slowed, and says the goal is an easy migration path for Lemon Squeezy users.
Treat it as a direction without a date and keep your customer list and files exported.
Is Gumroad Discover worth the 30 percent fee?
Gumroad Discover is worth 30 percent when it brings buyers you would not otherwise reach and you sell to them again through your own links; on a $29 sale it keeps $8.70.
Lemon Squeezy has no marketplace at all, so Discover is one of the few reasons to accept Gumroad's higher cost.
Which is better for selling subscriptions or software?
Lemon Squeezy is better for subscriptions and software. It offers free trials, usage-based billing, license key generation and a customer portal, and its subscription surcharge is 0.5% on top of 5% plus 50 cents.
Gumroad sells memberships and license keys too, but at 10% plus 50 cents plus processing on every renewal.
What is the file size limit on Gumroad and Lemon Squeezy?
Gumroad allows up to 20 GB per file on paid products and 250 MB in total on free products. Lemon Squeezy allows unlimited files per product up to 5GB in total. For large LUT libraries, sample packs or video courses, Gumroad's limit is the more generous one.
Can I sell on both Gumroad and Lemon Squeezy at once?
Yes, and some sellers keep an entry product on Gumroad for Discover reach while selling the main catalogue through Lemon Squeezy for the lower fee.
Both are merchants of record, so tax stays handled on both sides; the cost is a split catalogue, two customer exports and two payout calendars.
Gumroad vs Lemon Squeezy vs Framekit: which suits a template seller?
A template seller who wants tax handled should pick Lemon Squeezy over Gumroad, because its 5% plus 50 cents includes processing.
A template seller with their own portfolio site and more than about $1,100 a month in sales can pay less on Framekit Business, at the cost of handling VAT and disputes themselves.
Gumroad is the pick when Discover or payout speed matters most.
Final Verdict
Choose Lemon Squeezy if margin is the deciding factor or you sell software and subscriptions, because it does the same tax work as Gumroad for well under half the all-in cost at every volume, and its refunds, payment methods and update delivery are kinder to sellers.
Keep an exit plan, because its own team has said Stripe Managed Payments is where it is heading.
Choose Gumroad if you need weekly payouts, if Discover brings you buyers you cannot reach yourself, if your files run past 5GB, or if you simply do not want to build on a product preparing a migration.
